Johnny Vassollo

John Michael Vassallo lost his life to SUDEP in September of 2024. Diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 4, Johnny never allowed his condition to define him. In his 22 incredible years, Johnny traveled to more than 32 states, 17 countries, and 5 continents. Johnny made wonderful friends, participated enthusiastically in the Special Olympics, and excelled as a barista.

In recent years, he experienced more frequent seizures throughout both the day and night, requiring intensive care and constant monitoring. He had not had a seizure-free day in over 10 years, despite trying more than 30 different medications, combinations of treatments, and special diets.

While epilepsy was a constant challenge, Johnny refused to live a limited life. True to his spirit, he faced his condition with grace and humor. Incredibly kind and empathetic, Johnny continues to inspire us. We are committed to honoring his life by supporting and protecting other children with epilepsy.
